![]() The second verse introduces a lady locked in a stable, whose father reads her fables. The singer sounds downtrodden and self-aware of their own perceived flaws. In the first verse, the singer talks about being alone in the city and how they could either get by or get high with fifty (dollars). The rest of the song is composed of two main themes the first one is about the different secrets that people keep behind closed doors, and the second one is about wanting to escape from those secrets. The first few lines of the song appear to be a dialogue between two individuals in which one of them wants to leave, but the other one seems to be stopping them. The song "House of Secrets" by Otep revolves around the idea of secrets, loneliness, and escape. In 2013, Otep released her sixth studio album titled Hydra on January 22 through Victory Records. She also wrote and released a new book of poems titled "New Word Order" in December 2011. In 2011, Otep toured as a supporting act along with Earth Crisis for Cavalera Conspiracy. On the tour supporting the album, her band consisted of support musicians courtesy of the supporting band and labelmates on the tour, Destrophy.
